The Mandrake’s launched a post-lockdown festival and it’s giving us all the feels

Those of you who came to our two tip-top bashes at The Mandrake last year – Summer on the Terrace, Winter Wonderland, ringing all the right bells? – will know just how damn gorgeous, sexy, cool the place is. So not only will you be chuffed-as to hear that, following ‘Rona getting all nasty on our back bottoms, one of our favourite London hotels has reopened (their Jurema Terrace and Waeska Bar are perfect for al fresco cocktailing in a post-Covid world) but they’ve also launched an all-new, in-hotel festival aimed at the creative communities. Which is totally us.

Running from 30th August until 8th October, The Mandrake has curated a programme of live music, art and cultural happenings, all directly supporting artists who have suffered during lockdown. First up is Burning Man Week, coinciding with the eponymous (and postponed) California festival and featuring Philip Volker’s Dusk to Dawn photography exhibition and screenings of Burning Man Art on Fire; then there’s the Artist in Residence series, with live performances from Jo.Ke and M.A.N.D.Y plus an exclusive dance performance on Jurema Terrace by London-based contemporary choreographer, Alexander Whitley (there’s a £100 ‘performance package’ of a three-course dinner, wine and show on 10th September, by the way!) before Mandrake Music Nights rounds it all off with an open invitation to local DJs and musicians to perform at the hotel – and they’ll throw in free meditation sessions in case all this excitement gets too much. And all of the above barely scratches the surface of what The Mandrake has to offer during this festival of benevolent delights, but Momma’s got cocktails to drink… preferably on that terrace.
