A Japanese-Nordic lifestyle destination is opening in Mayfair and it looks helluva gorgeous

People throw hyphens around willy-nilly these days, but when we’re talking the fusion of Japanese and Nordic food, drink, art and design our ears are pricking right up. And not any old Japanese and Nordic food, drink, art and design, but the very best, most cutting-edge Japanese and Nordic food, drink, art and *checks notes* design. All under one very lovely Mayfair roof.

It’s called Pan-technic’on, and from this autumn will be your one-stop lifestyle destination for Japanese and Nordic culture, but only the cool stuff. We’re not talking riding a YO! Sushi belt on an Ikea swivel. Very clever people who know about all the right Japanese/Nordic stuff have created restaurants, bars (including a rooftop one!), boutique stores (including a spirits one! As in liquor!), plus an ongoing series of immersive experiences, workshops, talks and exhibitions inside a 200-year-old warehouse in SW1. And a very pretty one it is, too. And why Japanese and Nordic, you ask? It’s because of a shared lifestyle sensibility, of course. Simplicity, functionality, nature, lovely shoes…

Come for a drink in Oslo, dinner in Tokyo, shopping in Copenhagen, an exhibition in Osaka… we just lifted this last line from Pan-technic’on’s press release but it’s totally forcing us to believe it.

Expect to get your Japanese-Nordic thrills from this autumn.
