Shut your mouth, Fran Lebowitz. Oh, OK, don’t then.
When it comes to smart chat, it doesn’t come any smarter than as dished out by one Fran Lebowitz, the clumpy-shoes lesbian raconteuse of Old New York. You’ve seen her sneering at everyone who ever deserved to be sneered at on her Martin Scorsese-directed Netflix show Pretend It’s A City (the title itself is a rebuke to those who don’t know how to handle themselves on the streets of NYC) and now you can see her do it live in front of your very eyes as she brings her wit and her grump to Her Majesty’s UK next year, including two turns at The Barbican. Expect boxy menswear, the tinkle of a drink and some of the funniest and most acerbic commentary you’ve heard since Sandra Bernhard was last in town.
