Have a holly, jolly, dome-y Christmas

The Enchanted Garden Globes 1.jpg

Christmas, which used to come every year, is playing silly buggers this time round. It’s that ‘Rona, working our reserve nerve. Even Mrs Claus has switched to the hard stuff. But while it may not be the rip-roaring, bauble-breaking, debauched hot mess we’re used to, we’re still going to suck those jingle bells dry so help us Santa. Including making a cameo at this gorgeous pop-up dining experience in the grounds of a gorgeous country estate that used to belong to Henry VIII just a hop, skip and a sleigh ride from central London.

It’s called The Enchanted Garden Globes - which had you at ‘enchanted’, right? Heck, it probably had you at ‘the’ – and it’s a bespoke food and drink jolly plus magical illuminated woodland walk in the private gardens of Ashridge House in Hertfordshire. Try saying that with a mouthful of eggnog.

From 3-31 December, and with all the rules of our times in mind, a series of festive domes – the globes of our tale – will be hygge’d up the hilt, you fill it with up to six chums, they fill it with food and booze, et voila, Christmas magic. Then you get to wander into the illuminated woodland with its light installations, tunnels of falling stars, twinkling grottos, stolen kisses, hot toddies.

Go for lunch or dinner – double dip, why not? – and let’s get that Christmas party *checks notes* started.
